Best Air Purifier in Bangladesh: How to Choose One in 2026

The best air purifier in Bangladesh for most homes is a plain room unit with a True HEPA filter, a CADR big enough for your room, and replacement filters you can actually buy here. Get those three right and the brand matters a lot less. For a bedroom, add a quiet sleep mode.

Most people start looking in winter, when Dhaka's dust and smoke get into the flat even with the windows shut. A purifier cleans the air of one closed room. It can't keep up with an open window, and it won't touch dust already sitting on the floor.

SmartDeal has three models in stock right now, all from Kent and all between about Tk 25,000 and Tk 29,000. So most of this guide is about judging any purifier you're offered. The three Kent models come after that.

How to choose an air purifier

1. True HEPA or H13, not "HEPA-type"

A True HEPA filter has to trap at least 99.97% of particles at 0.3 microns, the size that slips through filters most easily. The European grade H13 (EN 1822) means at least 99.95% at that hardest size, and H14 is stricter again. Labels like "HEPA-type" or "HEPA-like" have no standard behind them and could describe almost anything. If the spec sheet gives neither "True HEPA" nor an H-grade, treat the filter as unknown.

2. CADR that matches your room in square feet

CADR (clean air delivery rate) is how much filtered air the machine puts out, in CFM or m³/h. The rule US appliance makers use (AHAM): CADR in CFM should be at least two-thirds of the floor area in square feet. One CFM is about 1.7 m³/h.

  • 10 x 12 ft bedroom (120 sq ft): at least 80 CFM, about 135 m³/h
  • 12 x 15 ft master bedroom (180 sq ft): at least 120 CFM, about 205 m³/h
  • 15 x 20 ft drawing-dining room (300 sq ft): at least 200 CFM, about 340 m³/h

That assumes an 8-foot ceiling, and many flats here are taller, so round up. Be wary of "covers up to X sq ft" on a box; some brands count one air change an hour, which is slow. One size above the minimum also lets the machine run on a quieter setting.

3. Activated carbon, if smells are the problem

HEPA catches particles. It does nothing for smells. Cooking smells, smoke drifting in from outside, fresh paint: that's the job of activated carbon. A thin sheet dusted with carbon makes little difference, while a layer of actual granules, sometimes listed by weight in grams, does far more and lasts longer.

4. Filter price and how often you'll replace it

This is the running cost people forget to ask about. Most brands say to change the main filter every 6 to 12 months, and with the machine on all day through a dusty Dhaka winter, expect the shorter end. Before buying, find out what a replacement filter costs, whether it's sold in Bangladesh, and whether there's a washable pre-filter in front to catch hair and lint. If nobody can say where the next filter will come from, the machine is a fan after a year.

5. Sleep-mode noise and power use

For a bedroom, look at the noise figure on the sleep setting, not the top one. Somewhere in the 20s to low 30s dB is a soft hum most people sleep through; on full speed almost every purifier gets loud. Power is rarely a worry. Most room purifiers draw roughly 20 to 60 watts on high and a few watts on sleep, about what a ceiling fan uses or less, so a 40-watt machine running all day comes to about 1 unit (kWh) a day. Also check the display light can be switched off at night.

6. Be careful with ozone

Some air cleaners make ozone on purpose, and some ionizer or "plasma" functions give off a little as a by-product. Ozone can break down odours, but it does not trap dust, and it's a harsh gas to breathe in a closed room. The US EPA warns against using ozone generators as air cleaners, and California caps how much ozone an air cleaner sold there may release. If a model has an ozone or ion function, make sure you can switch it off, and use ozone mode only in an empty room, airing it out before anyone goes back in.

The three air purifiers in stock

All three are from Kent. Before ordering, get the CADR, the filter grade and the replacement filter price from SmartDeal and check them against the rules above. The current price is on each product page.

For a bedroom or study: Kent Aura K-200-AP

The Kent Air Purifier Aura K-200-AP is the lowest-priced of the three and the only one without "Ozone" in its name, so it's the first to look at for a room you'll be sleeping in. It suits a bedroom, a study or a home office, provided its CADR clears the bar for your floor area. Skip it if the filter turns out to be "HEPA-type" rather than True HEPA.

For a flat short on floor space: Kent Ozone Wall Mount K-201-AP

The Kent Ozone Air Purifier Wall Mount K-201-AP fixes to the wall, so it takes no floor space and stays out of small hands, though it then serves that one room only. Ask whether it has a HEPA filter as well and whether the ozone function can be turned off. If it can't, it belongs in a room you can leave empty while it runs, like a shop after closing or a guest room, not above your bed.

To move between rooms: Kent Ozone Portable K-203-AP

The Kent Ozone Air Purifier Portable K-203-AP can be carried from room to room, say to clear the smell out of a freshly painted room and then move on. It's the highest-priced of the three, and one machine moved around means each room only gets cleaned part of the time. The ozone questions and the empty-room rule are the same as for the wall model.

FAQ

What is the air purifier price in Bangladesh?

It depends mostly on the room size the machine is built for. Small desk units cost far less but only clean the air right around you. The three room models in stock at SmartDeal sit between about Tk 25,000 and Tk 29,000. Add a year of filters to whatever the sticker says.

Does an air purifier help with dust?

With fine dust floating in the air, yes, if it has a True HEPA filter and enough CADR, and the doors and windows stay closed. Dust that has settled on the floor, the sofa or the fan blades still needs a mop and a cloth. In winter the pre-filter goes grey fast, so check it every couple of weeks.

Can I run an air purifier all night in the bedroom?

A HEPA purifier without ozone, on sleep or auto mode, is built for that. Keep it a foot or so from the wall and curtains so air can get in, and close the door. If the model has an ozone or ion setting, keep it off while anyone is in the room.

How often should a HEPA filter be changed?

Most brands say every 6 to 12 months. Go by the filter-change light, or a filter that has turned dark grey, rather than the calendar. Don't wash a HEPA filter unless the maker says it's washable; the pre-filter in front is the part you clean.

Measure your room before you shop: length times width, then the two-thirds rule above, gives you the CADR number to ask for. Everything SmartDeal lists, including models that come back into stock, is in the air purifier category.
